No spiking the ball: John Boehner aux élus républicains

La confiance règne dans les rangs républicains à la Chambre... Memo de John Boehner dans l'éventualité où la décision de la Cour suprême serait défavorable aux démocrates, et, surtout, au Président.

"If the Supreme Court rules against President Barack Obama's health care law next week, Speaker John Boehner doesn't want House Republicans "spiking...the ball."

In a memo sent to the House Republican Conference Thursday afternoon as lawmakers headed out of town, Boehner (R-Ohio) warned against celebration, and gave his colleagues a peek at next week's messaging and strategy.

"We will not celebrate at a time when millions of our fellow Americans remain out of work, the national debt has exceeded the size of our nation's economy, health costs continue to rise, and small businesses are struggling to hire," Boehner wrote in the memo, provided to POLITICO. "ObamaCare has contributed to all of these problems. Repealing it completely is part of the solution. ..but it is only one part."

In the memo, Boehner said that House Republican Conference Chairman Jeb Hensarling (R-Texas), Reps. Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-Wash.) and Tom Price (R-Ga.) would "help to lead our response efforts" following the court's decision.

He also reiterated several of the party's talking points: the law has driven health care costs up, "making it harder for small businesses to hire workers," Boehner said. And Republicans will move legislation piecemeal to replace the law if its struck down.
